How much will my filing at the Commercial Register cost?
Costs at the Commercial Register consist of the statutory fee and, depending on the format, additional conversion charges. This article explains the structure and provides an interactive calculator.
Fees for accounting documents
Fees for filing accounting documents are regulated in the JVKostG fee schedule. They vary by company size and format.
Examples from the fee schedule:
• Very small corporations: 18.50 EUR
• Small corporations: 25.00 EUR
• Medium-sized corporations: 55.00 EUR
• Large companies: 110.00 EUR for XML, 330.00 EUR for other formats
• Group accounting: 330.00 EUR for XML, 550.00 EUR for disclosure format
If documents are submitted in different formats, the higher fee is generally charged.
Conversion charges
When documents are not delivered in the required XML format but as Word, RTF, Excel, or PDF, the register authority charges a private-law conversion fee.
This amounts to 1.75 cents per visible character and 20.00 EUR per graphic, plus VAT. The fee is added on top of the statutory fees.

Higher processing fee for scans
For scanned documents, a higher processing fee applies: 2.50 cents per visible character plus VAT.
Important: even a single scanned document can cause the entire order to be billed at the higher rate.

What this means in practice
The key question for calculating disclosures is not only what document is submitted, but also how it is delivered. XML avoids technical surcharges, while PDF, Excel, or scans are typically more expensive.

Note: Uregistry prices are not yet final. JVKostG fees and conversion charges are verified per the cost schedule.
Tip: Entering the exact character count gives a more precise cost estimate. The page count serves as a guide.
Estimated: approx. 40.000 characters (from 20 pages × 2000 chars/page)
Effective: 40.000 characters

Note: Uregistry does not distinguish between scanned and normal pages — the price per page stays the same, regardless of the source document format.
Conclusion
Setting up filing as XML-capable from the start reduces friction, error costs, and in many cases total costs. The calculator above shows the concrete difference for your situation.
